Students attending The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) in Graceville, FL are known for making sacrifices to attend school. Many of the students who move to Graceville to continue their education and prepare for areas of ministry do so in faith that God will provide the financial resources needed to attend school. Sometimes, as BCF senior BJ Shelton found out earlier this year in what he described as one of "the most amazing experiences of my life," God provided in a way that defied the norm.

In a unique effort to eliminate school debts, Shelton entered a contest through Shell Quick Mart gas stations that provided him with a chance to win a 2009 Ford Mustang. One of the initial five finalists was unable to participate, so Shelton was chosen as an alternate. When he arrived, he was the third person to select a key to try to start the car. If the car started, it was his.

Shelton watched prayerfully and patiently as the first two contestants unsuccessfully tried their keys in the ignition. When his turn came, the sound of the engine roared to life. Shelton, in tears, offered thanks to God in front of the entire crowd and was even able to share his faith and testimony on the radio station broadcasting from the scene.

Having prayed earnestly about paying off his school debts, Shelton was able to sell the new car to a buyer attending the event. With the money received, he was able to pay off his debts and saving the remaining funds to prepare for wherever God leads him.

Shelton's amazing story serves as an example and continual reminder that God is faithful to His people and provides for their needs. For more information about The Baptist College of Florida or how you can help other students like BJ Shelton, call 800-328-2660 ext. 460.
