GAME DAY FOR BCF LADY EAGLES
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 19, 2009
BCF Lady Eagles huddle before the first match at the NCCAA volleyball tournament held in Montgomery, Alabama.
The Baptist College of Florida (BCF) Lady Eagles Volleyball Team had their "Game Day" faces on as they boarded the bus heading to Montgomery, Alabama to participate in a National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) volleyball tournament on October 16-17.
Facing experienced teams from Mobile, Gadsden, and Montgomery, the eagles played with heart suffering a bitter loss to Jefferson Davis Community College, part of the Alabama State College System, and then to the University of Mobile. The final stats didn't tell the whole story as spectators watched this newly formed BCF team struggle to return powerhouse spiral serves and hard spiked balls. The courage and commitment of the eagles was visible on their faces as they rotated from one side of the court to the other hoping for a win.
On the second day of tournament play, the BCF Lady Eagles prayed, practiced, and ran drills until the line judge and game referee blew the whistle signaling the start of the match. The first game was against Faulkner University. Volleys edged back and forth over the net as the eagles moved closer to a win. The final match was 25-18 with Faulkner on top. But according to the large crowd of BCF followers that made the trip to Montgomery to attend the game, it was the Lady Eagles that ended on top.
The BCF Lady Eagles had the largest crowd of supporters cheering them on during the tournament. The team far exceeded inaugural expectations as they formed a bond reflecting the scripture text in Isaiah 40:31 "But those who wait on the Lord, Shall renew their strength, They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint." It appears to be a Cinderella story in the making as this is not the last word on the BCF Lady Eagles.
